What does World Animal Protection do for animals?
We move the world to protect animals, end their needless suffering and influence decision makers to put animals on the global agenda. We do this through our four campaign areas. i.e Animals in communities, animals in farming, animals in disasters and animals in the wild. You can learn more about our work here https://www.worldanimalprotection.or.ke/

We’re an animal welfare campaigning organization focused on influencing decision makers to put animals on the global agenda. We therefore don’t offer animal shelter services. To get access to one, kindly contact your local government to support you with this.

Do you rescue animals?
No, we don’t. We educate the public, governments and industries on the need to care for animals. This is meant to reduce the number of neglected animals within communities.
-
Do you have an animal clinic?
No, we don’t but we have a great network of veterinary doctors and animal practitioners across the globe who work with us to ensure the public, governments and industries understand the need to care for animal health and welfare. You can have a look at some of their work here https://www.worldanimalprotection.or.ke/blogs

Do you sell pets and other animals?
No, we don’t. We however educate interested pet owners to ensure that they give the utmost care to the domestic animals they’d like to keep. We however don’t support the keeping of wildlife as pets. You can search your neighbourhood or the area where your pet was lost and let people know He/she’s missing especially through social media. You can also find the animals at a local animal shelter.
-
Do you fight for animal rights?
No, we advocate for animal welfare. Animal welfare entails how an animal is coping with the conditions in which it lives. An animal that is in a good state of welfare is healthy, comfortable, well nourished, safe, able to express innate behaviour, and is not ssuffering from unpleasant states such as pain, fear, and distress. Good animal welfare requires disease prevention and veterinary treatment, appropriate shelter, management, nutrition and humane handling
-
I have noticed animal cruelty and mistreatment. What can I do to help?
Animals are sentient beings and they shouldn’t go through cruelty. Please report any instances of animal cruelty at your local government offices. Additionally, educate your family and friends on the importance of treating animals right. You can get this information on our website.
-
What do you mean by animals are sentient beings?
Just like humans, animals live emotional lives. They experience joy, pain, excitement and sadness. Every day, we gain new and fascinating insights into the lives of animals.
-
Why do you advocate for animal welfare and not humans?
Just like humans, animals deserve proper care and protection. 1 billion of the world’s poorest people depend on animals for their livelihoods. When animal lives are protected, human livelihoods are also secured.
-
Can World Animal Protection take away a pet from its owner if they are mistreating it?
Our vision is to see a world where animals are treated humanely. In that effect, we teach animal owners and caregivers on how to give the best care to animals. In the event of an animal mistreatment case, we cannot take away the pet from its owner, but we strongly advise that you report to your local government about the incidence to ensure the animal is rescued from cruelty.
